We can all get a little complacent with our homes from time to time. Especially during the winter months when all we want to do is hibernate and hide away from the cold and gray weather. But winter also presents the perfect time to place a little focus on our homes and try and transform it ready for Spring. It doesn’t take much to make your home feel different in some way, so I thought I would share with you some quick and easy ways you can start transforming your own living space.
Move your furniture around
When we move into a property, we make a quick decision where certain things will go and more often than not, that is where they will stay. So why not change things up a little and move some of the furniture around. You might decide to move your sofa and put it in a different place, maybe thinking that a table from one room will look better somewhere else entirely. It can instantly freshen up your home style and look, which is always a pleasing thing to experience.
Give your home a deep clean
Who says you need to wait for spring to give your home that deep clean, why not start now and make it a more gradual process? You may want to pull out the furniture and get rid of any dust that has gathered, or show your floors some attention and clean the carpets or get your floor steamers out and give the wooden or tiled flooring a once over. A clean and tidy home can instantly lift your mood and transform the way you feel in your living space.
Get rid of the clutter
Clutter can be one of those things that build up over time without you even realizing. It maybe a stack of paperwork on the work surface or even things like unread magazines and catalogs from the Christmas period. So now would be the ideal time to clear out the clutter for good. You could start with a room each day or even giving five minutes out of your day to declutter a space in your home. The impact it will have on your mood as well as your home could be life changing.
Give some rooms a fresh coat of paint
A fresh coat of paint will always brighten up your living space, but you could even change the way a room looks by adding a feature wall in a different color. Or even painting the room in a different color entirely. The paint job can make a room feel fresh and clean with very minimal effort and cost involved.
Change the function of the room
Finally, how you use any room in your home is entirely up to you. So if you want to change something then go right ahead. You might want to turn the guest room into an office, or a dining room into a children’s playroom. Changing the functionality of a room could transform the living space in the rest of your home.
